Joseph Alston is a Binghamton singer-songwriter who hails from the ‘North Country’ of New York. A virtuoso guitarist with a compelling voice, he is first and foremost, a storyteller in the vein of a Tom Waits or Greg Brown. Drawing upon his upbringing, as well as travels across the country and overseas, Joe’s songs weave tales of people, places, and the human condition. His lyrics draw you in, introducing you to a cast of characters you’ll feel like you know, and a world of places you wish you could visit. Whether real or imagined, Joe’s stories will make you think, and always leave you wanting for more.
Founded in 1823, Vestal had its humble beginnings as a lumbering and farming community. Come learn the history of farming in Vestal from the large farm on Hiawatha Island to the John S. LaGrange Farm to Drovers Inn to Cold Spring Farm to Brookdale Stock farm. The Vestal Historical Society’s extensive farming collection will be on display as well as photographs of the farms that made up the town.
