About the event
Nancy received her formal training at the New York Institute of Photography (2011-13). She studied for the arduous certification exam offered by the national trade organization, Professional Photographers of America. Her artwork presented during three years to PPA judges won her the degree of Master of Photographer. Nancy is the only photographer in Broome County who is a PPA Certified Professional Photographer and a Master Photographer. The show at the Vestal Museum falls into two parts. Nancy is primarily a portrait photographer with a humanistic view. Her subjects at the show are mainly those whom most of us in the city do not notice: The beggars, the alcoholics, the paupers, the mad. She also is recording the historical decline of our region through architectural imagery. The distinctive story-telling in Nancy’s images indicate why she has gained a national reputation in a short time. This spring the magazine of the American Society of Photographers even wrote up one of her images, on show at the Vestal Museum.
